Make Up by : Angie Make Up and Hair
Videography by : Edmund Lee and team, of Keng’s Cinematography

At the time I am penning my thoughts down, I am pretty emotional. exhausted, feeling satisfied and not satisfied at the same time. In short, and in our Malaysian accent. I feel like rojak now.

I reason with myself and I figure it’s fair to feel like this after a week long effort photographing what I deem as The Wedding of the year 2010.

It all started from a man I met at a wedding recently. After watching the same day edit slideshow, he approached me for my name card and he said that his somebody were getting married in Singapore, and would like my contacts. I get approaches like this all the time, from family and friends who they would pass on my contact as a favor helping their love ones to plan their upcoming wedding. I don’t hear from them much after……. Hence i seldom give much thought about it. But this man, welcomed me to Four Season Langkawi when we arrived and he said, “Remember me?” He is the father of the bride.

Shoba and Gaurav were planning a wedding in Singapore and a destination wedding in Langkawi. I was pretty excited as I was able to round up some of the best people in my line of work to pull off the whole gig. We team up with Zach chin as 2nd shooter, Ian Chong (Singapore 2nd shooter), Edmund Lee of Keng’s Videography for cinematography and Angie from Angie Make up and hair. I have a lot of love for these people. Their work is absolutely amazing, and at the same time, these bunch are a joy to work with.

The celebration lasted the whole week. Ian kick started our coverage in Singapore before the Malaysia team head off to Langkawi on Tuesday. We shot the wedding back to back for a good 3 days. I am not going to lie to you, it was an awesome wedding but at the same time, It was exhausting, physically challenging, mentally stressing wedding. It’s a lot of hard work. We were all pushed to our limit. All of us barely slept for more than 3 hours a day.

Once in a blue moon, maybe, we cover a wedding where there are animals involve. Once in a blue moon, there may be fireworks for the wedding. Once in a blue moon (perhaps never in my career thus far), the guest were invited to light up the lantern, and letting them float up in the sky, blessing for good fortune and good luck. This wedding, we had it all!

We showcased the Slideshow during the Singapore reception on Saturday. The small little sparkle of tear from the groom made the whole entire week work, worth it.

This week, we all took away different experience from just being there at the wedding. The couple and the family had the time of their life, and probably have their own story and tale to share among each other.

As for us, the working team, we sweat because we were in a beautiful tropical island. We were tired because we work our ass off and put our best at it. We were laughing because we enjoyed each and everyone’s company during the job. All and all, great moments, great memories taken back. This is where I want to be- in a perfect storm. The job is tough and challenging yet very very satisfying.

We’ve got Innayat and Team to thank for arranging our team into the wedding, and the Four Season Staff who are forever ready to take care of us.

I’ve uploaded the same day slideshow at vimeo, and would like to share it with you guys. It’s the longest slideshow I’ve made. 11 minutes altogether. I don’t usually have it this length, but cramping 3 days photographs extended the length.

Thank you for catching up with me.
