This my friend, is Laban Rata, the sight in the evening prior my first climb to Mount Kinabalu in 2004. I remember the day when we decent the peak, and I shouted out loud and I quote myself “Goodbye Laban Rata, I will never see you again”.

Never say never.

Years passed. I’ve been longing to make a trip cos let me tell you this, the hike is tiresome, fatigue, painful and utterly challenging to a lot of people, including myself. But, there is a silver lining to all this torturous endure cos being at the peak on Mount Kinabalu was …. what’s that word ? AWESOME!

The view is simply magnificent. The fact that you are standing on top of the world (well, it’s not the tallest mountain in the world, but it is still the tallest in South East Asia) , breathing the cold air, there is no way to describe but to experience it yourself. I was the jumping monkey on the rocks. It’s really really amazing. Oh, btw, that photographer in the photography above ain’t me. It was a Korean guy, a much more serious photographer than I am back then.

There you go. The evidence that I did reach to the Low’s Peak.

So, here is the deal. I want to create a portfolio piece featuring wedding photography in Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in South East Asia. I was brain storming and was bouncing some ideas about things to do and what would be interesting to mark a chapter in my life. The idea of Pre-Wedding in Mount Kinabalu rang in my head for the past 1 month ++ . I bounce the idea off some of my closest people around me. In my head, it feels impossible and crazy at first. But when I start laying down how this could be done, it didn’t sound too crazy, and it didn’t sound impossible. It is one of those thing that that keep you on the toes, that make you feel scared and at the same time thrilled.

Needless to say that the terrain, the magnificent view making photography opportunity endless. This is just at the peak.

Could you imagine what kind of photographs would be made with views like this? I could, and I am excited.

And I quote many many Wedding Photographer greats “Weddings are meant to be a fantasy”….. and I cannot picture how not fantasy it is with the location like this. It is a challenge for what a photographer could do in these extreme conditions. It is a challenge to what the wedding gown may look like in this cold. Not to mention to how the climb it is going to be. Perhaps a track pants gown?? Hur?! . There are plenty of room of creativity make up to what possibly a cold white princess on ice. There are opportunities for videographers to draw a fantasy like storyboard. There are rooms for documentary of the whole expedition.

Ideas to what can be done during the expedition is limitless and at this moment in time, I am convince enough that the final result will be extraordinary.

An expedition like this is beyond myself. There is so much planning, organising and fund involve. I choose to blog about it to somehow give it legs, perhaps the little community that I have on my blog could make this a reality. I want to meet people who are interested with the idea and can contribute. It is an idea now. It is my wish to want to make it real.

What say you?
