In a wedding, we often think about how grand the event could be. How many tables the wedding banquet hall could fit, and what we serve to everybody. We think about which designer gown will look best. Sure, these are interesting and all important, makes the wedding fun. What I think matters most are the people around us, especially our own family – and I feel that’s the most important in a wedding.

This short 30 seconds clip and what I deem as commercial shows off a product of a wedding, which is a happy family.

And when you have your family, wouldn’t it be nice to looking back to those priceless wedding photographs taken? Wouldn’t it be nice to be reminded how it all begin.

It’s going to be casual, fun.. and if you are not doing anything better on christmas day, come spend it with me .

One of the many things that I love what I do is to be able to experience new things in life, all over. We work very hard day in day out, for many many years to gear ourselves up to land opportunity like this. Get hired, paid, and shoot a large scale wedding. We just got back from India covering an a full fledge north Indian wedding lasted for 5 days. An event to be remembered. I’ve recently posted the Slideshow that we presented on the final reception dinner night where people gathered around the big projector watching the slideshow. Photo by photo, the crowd showered us with their cheers and tears to what they say were fantastic photography and nothing they have seen before in India. What meant most to me, is that we touched their heart with the job we love to do. I will showcase most of the portfolio when it’s ready, but I would just like to share with you all the slideshow that was showcase at the reception here:

We were treated to a short trip around New Delhi on an off day while we were in India, and we had the time of our lives photographing at the streets at Old Delhi and some interesting tourist spots. On the day we were leaving back to Kuala Lumpur, we decided to take a morning 4 hours drive to Agra to stomp the ground of the grand Taj Mahal. I’ve compiled a series of black and white photographs during my visit there just to share with you all.

I use to bowl with my friends back in high school, and then stop. I use to play the guitar, and then stop after knowing four chords. But photography, like those old coffee shop with their their signage “Old Town Coffee Shop – since 1880″. Only in my case, a lot less younger.

In the past 1 to 2 months, I’ve been working on the website trying to improve the previous design, which I personally find it quite tough to navigate around.

This version of the web is more friendly, and much more searchable then the previous one, while retaining big size pictures to showcase our photography work.

What I hope though, are more consistent updates with some sort of a content…. and gradually improve on the quality so you could take something away from visiting my website.

So, mouse away and explore. I’ve loaded new portfolios and they are my baby, and I am absolutely proud of them.

Actually, it’s been awhile now. We’ve been operating our business from the hottest spot in Subang Jaya since earlier this year. We completed renovation before Chinese New Year and slowly moved in and get cozy with our new office.

I guess, it will always be a Work In Progress. Just today, I drove out to IKEA to get a couple of shelfs and tables to organize the gallery to prepare for more Jon Low Studios staff to be in.

Oh, btw, in case you haven’t been following my facebook updates, we are hiring! I’ve got 1 slot vacant for Studio Assistant. His / her job is to spearhead administration for Jon Low Studios. If interested, drop us a line in the contact us form!

The gallery/studio (however you call it) is a place where we meet our clients, a place where clients turn friends, and photographers and industry partner can hang out. I personally envision the place to fill up with memories, laughter and friendships that pass us by. For better or worst.

I’ve enclosed the video I’ve uploaded this morning so you may check it out at the end of this blog post.

Here is to the beginning of greater things to come! Hopefully soon!

I’ve got most of the story about the wedding of the year as posted here. So, you guys can check it out. Here are more some of the masterpieces that end up in the album from the extensive portfolio we were shooting at the wedding! . We’ve been back to Four Seasons ever since, and we’ll be posting more portfolio from there very soon!

Being in Paris in the month of November for me, is totally awesome. I mean, I am Malaysian kid, and being in the cold sends a signal to my brain that it’s somewhat I am away. This means, I am somewhat exploring somewhere beyond my own territory which I love every now and then. Keep me refreshed, as a photographer.

We were in Paris just last November, before the place was covered up with snow as reported. Thankfully, otherwise, I cannot imagine how we would be able to shoot in the cold. Already, I feel that the bride I was shooting was trembling in the cold. It isn’t easy this time of the year to be in Paris for a shoot. She’s simply amazing.

It’s cold, and I wasn’t quite kidding. It wasn’t a just a walk in the park to be in a gorgeous wedding gown and feel all demure and romantic.

Our dear Chew Yen, make up artist was all wrapped up for the shoot, having umbrellas to block incoming winds. Just to set you guys up how unkind the weather was for the bride.

Meet Yen & Johnson, the braveheart to embrace Paris’ almighty cold, in gowns and suits. Easy for the suits, not quite for the gown. Spotted…. Johson keeping Yen’s ear warm in between shoot.

I photographed my cousin’s wedding. With great power, comes with great responsibility……

It’s close to heart, cos it’s a family affair. Truly is, when most of us  from the Malaysian contingent flew over to Hong Kong to attend our last cousin to be married. At first, it was a wedding I am attending and guest shooting. I never give much thought about it. I was putting the slideshow together for the reception and while curling these photographs, I got emotional myself. I sat my aunt down in front of my cousin bride, and I create a little moment for them. It’s the cousin that I never spent much time with but still close to heart. It’s the aunt that been buying nice gifts all the way from Hong Kong, and took care of me whenever I went visiting. They both felt something just seated there… I created it for them – my cousin, and my aunt.

I always love my grandma. In different stages of my life, I love her differently. At earlier stages of my life, I felt privileged, cos I am her grandson. She took care of me. I took things for granted. I grew up, and the man I am today, I am proud to see how happy my grandma is over her grand daughter’s wedding. These photos just makes me wanna spend a little more time with them.

My grandma lives in Kuala Lumpur, while my cousin’s are in Hong Kong. Rest assure that distance separates us. Only distance.

How many people in the world have a chance to make their grand dad looks good when he is 80?…. in photos?  :)

Growing up, I have not always been a photographer. My eldest cousin in Hong Kong married a Police Officer, which I missed the chance of shooting their wedding.

Chi, welcome to our family. Complex, messy, argumentative, ignorance, and mostly loud.  Rest assure, the underlying values that keep us together are strong and loving. We are the perfect modern family. Where is the fun, if it isn’t both ups and downs and left and right. You are going on a roller coaster ride buddy!

Come the next few months are exciting times for us here at Jon Low Studios. Watch out at this space as we will be unveiling interesting experiences, new products in the spread of the 1st and 2nd quarter of 2011. In the past, when we tease our clients to what is coming up and get them excited about our new range of products – we delivered. 2011 will be remarkable where we have ordered new stock of brand new albums, new dimension and new take on our album line up. More on our albums comes February when we are ready to showcase them.

We mark end of 2010 at Jon Low Studios with Princely Wedding Fair. Sort of our way to honor our 2010 packages as long as possible before a fresh change and new offering the rest of 2011 from February 2011. So, this is your last chance to sign us up with 2010 packages and albums. If you have requested quotation from us prior February 2011, please resend your request to us for a new quote comes February, as we are putting our old product line to rest.

Huh, 2011 already?

We have a great deal of ups and downs, and mostly ups throughout 2010! Personally, for myself 2010 flew through me as though I skipped a year. The things we do great, we will continue; and will continue to improve on our successes. Those are our pillars and our pride. We do have our down times. Mistakes we made, will be translated to lesson learnt and definitely gearing up for improvements 2011.

Thank you for having us for your wedding days 2010! Thank you for the patience you have for this *Chinese Boy* and the team. We are already a better team today than yesterday! .

Moving on 2011

I hate to tease, cos it means there are something in our pipeline – work in progress , or work done however not ready for prime time. I just want to share with you guys that I am pretty stoked and excited about the new announcements that we will have quite soon. It will be sometime while you are busy holidaying for Chinese New Year. It’s huge news to us, a huge inspiration that we ride on, to able to produce outstanding photography, and improve on experience with us at Jon Low Studios.
