08 Apr How to Be the Best Kind of Wedding Guest: A Photographer’s Perspective
Dear brides and grooms, and fellow wedding guests….
Be present.
As a wedding photographer, my job is to capture those once-in-a-lifetime moments for the happy couple. They’ve trusted me to document their big day, a task I take with both joy and responsibility. It’s all about creating memories that last forever.
But here’s a little insight from behind the lens: When guests are too focused on snapping photos with their phones, it can actually get in the way of the professional shots. You might not realize it, but moving around to get that perfect angle could block a moment I’m trying to capture. Or worse, you could end up in the middle of a beautiful shot, phone in hand, distracting from the magic of the moment.
So, here’s a friendly piece of advice on how to be the best kind of wedding guest: trust us, the photographers, to do our job. We’re there to make sure all those special moments are captured beautifully. And when everyone is present and engaged, not through the screen of a phone, it makes for a much more memorable and genuine experience for everyone involved.
Don’t be that guy or gal with the phone out all the time. Instead, enjoy the celebration, live in the moment, and let the professionals take care of the photos. That way, you’re contributing to the magic of the day, ensuring the newlyweds have the best memories to look back on, without any unexpected photo bombs!
