05 May Pre-Wedding in Santorini — Because Some Places Change You

Shooting In Santorini — A Place That Stays With You
There’s no shortage of photographs of Santorini.
We’ve all seen the blue domes, the postcard views, the way the sun falls behind the caldera at the end of the day. But being there — physically walking those winding paths, standing still during sunset — it overwhelms you in a way no image ever prepares you for.
I’ve had the chance to photograph two couples there.
Irene & Hun. Felicia & Andrew. Two very different sessions, but both unforgettable in their own way.
Photographing Irene & Hun — Sunrise to Sunset
With Irene and Hun, we took our time.
We photographed across multiple sessions — from the stillness of sunrise, where the town hadn’t woken up yet, to the golden flood of sunset when the island felt alive. Santorini gave us quiet pockets in the morning, and dramatic silhouettes by evening. Every frame felt like it was waiting for them.

The light? Glorious.
Soft when it needed to be. Bold when it wanted to make a point. It bounced off walls, diffused through veils, wrapped them in warmth without ever overpowering the moment.
Felicia & Andrew — A Small Elopement in a Grand Place

With Felicia and Andrew, it wasn’t just portraits — it was their holy matrimony. A quiet elopement. Just the two of them, choosing to say their vows in a place that felt far from everything else.
It was simple. Honest. The kind of ceremony where no one’s watching, and yet everything matters more.
That session reminded me what pre-wedding photography can be: not just a shoot, but a way to seal a memory into something permanent.
What I Noticed About Shooting in Santorini
Couples are different there.
They’re more at ease.
More adventurous.
More willing to climb a rooftop, walk a little further, or let the wind play with the dress because — why not?
They’re already in a place they’ll remember forever. So they let go. And that’s when the best moments come through.
Should You Fly to Santorini for Your Pre-Wedding Photos?
It’s not a budget trip.
It takes planning, commitment, and yes — quite a bit of travel. But Santorini isn’t the kind of place you visit just to tick a box. And a pre-wedding shoot there isn’t just a photoshoot. It’s something else entirely.
Because it’s not just a trip.
It’s a chapter in your relationship.
A moment where both of you step out of the ordinary and into something unforgettable.
It’s an investment — in memories, in stories, in the kind of togetherness that only happens when you’re far from everything familiar.
The photos we make there won’t just sit in a gallery. They’ll live with you. On your walls, in your album, and years later — when you’ve lived more life, built more chapters — they’ll bring you back to this one.
Back to the quiet, the light, the feeling of being far away and completely present with each other.
If I were to do it all over again — I’d say yes in a heartbeat.
Thinking about planning your own destination shoot?
I don’t over-plan these sessions. I follow the light. I follow you.
And I make sure whatever we create together — it’s honest to the place, and honest to the both of you.
